NYSIA (New York Software Industry Association, 501(c)6), was founded in 1992 by the Partnership for NYC; a merger of NY Chamber of Commerce & Industry (founded in 1768) and New York City Partnership (founded 1979 by David Rockefeller). It was the leading trade association for software, information technology, and web development companies in the Greater New York tri-state region. Its reach expanded to international markets, and included the first and largest tech incubator, The NYSIA Incubator @55 Broad, with over 23,000 s/f.NYSIA worked in close partnership with Empire State Development Corp, the economic development arm for New York State, as well as NYCEDC (New York City Economic Development Corp.), all of the universities located in the tri-state region, and other entities to develop the IT and software industries for New York in wide-ranging initiatives from talent pipeline development, international market expansion, and inclusive community growth, to legislative supportive action, in the interests of New York-based tech stakeholders.
