Founded in 2005, OAR Northwest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit adventure education and research organization, run primarily by volunteers, that uses adventure for scientific exploration and free STEM-focused education delivered online and in-person.**Mission Statement: Use adventure-based rowing to create and deliver the best adventure education content to students worldwide, while researching environments that we explore together.OAR Northwest connects and educates communities through its ocean, coastal, and inland rowing education expeditions. While underway, specialized rowboats are home, laboratory and vehicle. In 2006, OAR Northwest achieved a Guinness Record making transatlantic rowing race win from New York to England.By 2013, OAR Northwest's mission had evolved to one focused on adventure education expeditions. The 'CWF Africa to the Americas Expedition' was the culmination of the transformation, delivering innovative STEM curriculum free of charge to classrooms in North America and countries worldwide.OAR Northwest is deeply committed to fostering, promoting and educating youth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as they relate to the student's home environment. 'Adventure: Mississippi River' is another step forward, delivering biannual fall semester education expeditions strengthened by partnerships with leading universities and adventure learning organizations.
