Waste/Recycling/Environmental - Alexandria, NSW, AU
For almost two decades we have been leaders in the design, installation and maintenance of stormwater treatment assets and infrastructure. Our purpose beyond profit is to protect our waterways with the health of our oceans now at crisis levels. It's predicted there will be more plastic in the sea than fish by 2050 and whilst plastic is part of the issue, so too is toxins and pollutants including sediments, heavy metals, nitrogen, phosphorous and cigarette butts that flow to the ocean from stormwater runoff. With an urgent need to accelerate the amount of pollution we capture on land, changes are necessary in human behaviour, knowledge and legislation. That's why we are committed to three key areas: -Bringing about change to legislation that will have a real impact -Increasing public awareness of stormwater through education-Developing an advocacy program where we'll share much-needed funds with worthwhile charities Change: We are actively raising public awareness and speaking with politicians to make maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and roads a legal and enforceable requirement. Without proper maintenance, all compulsory water treatment systems become ineffective and ultimately, our waterways pay the price. We estimate this change in legislation will save 240 litres of pollution from entering our waterways each day - that's over 500 standard size wheelie bins! Education: We partnered with Keep Australia Beautiful to develop and deliver ocean conservation science modules to NSW primary schools. In 2020 we partnered with Eco Educate. Eco Educate works with primary and secondary schools across the country to deliver quality, curriculum-aligned education.Advocacy: In 2019, we're partnered with five charities by donating $50,000 to their collective conservation efforts. We're also fundraising for them via our online shop. We will increase our financial contribution to relevant causes in parallel with business growth year-on-year.

Ocean Protect: Leading the Charge in Stormwater Management and Ocean Conservation In the coastal city of Alexandria, Australia, a passionate team of environmental advocates is hard at work protecting the ocean from the threat of pollution. Meet Ocean Protect, a company dedicated to designing, installing, and maintaining stormwater treatment assets and infrastructure for nearly two decades. With a purpose beyond profit, Ocean Protect is committed to protecting the health of our oceans, which are at crisis levels due to pollution. The company's co-founders, Jeremy Brown and Michael Wicks, understand the urgent need to accelerate the amount of pollution captured on land. To tackle this issue, Ocean Protect has identified three key areas of focus: changing legislation, increasing public awareness through education, and developing an advocacy program. One of Ocean Protect's most significant initiatives is advocating for legislative change to make the maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and roads a legal and enforceable requirement. Without proper maintenance, compulsory water treatment systems become ineffective, and our waterways suffer the consequences. According to Ocean Protect's estimates, this change in legislation could save 240 liters of pollution from entering our waterways daily – that's over 500 standard size wheelie bins! In addition to advocating for change, Ocean Protect is partnering with Keep Australia Beautiful and Eco Educate to deliver ocean conservation science modules to primary schools across New South Wales. By educating the next generation, Ocean Protect aims to increase public awareness of stormwater and inspire future leaders to take action against pollution. Furthermore, Ocean Protect is committed to supporting worthwhile charities through their advocacy program. In 2019, they partnered with five charities, donating $50,000 to their collective conservation efforts. They continue to fundraise for these causes through their online shop, ensuring that their business growth translates into a greater financial contribution to protecting our oceans. With a strong mission and commitment to protecting the environment, Ocean Protect is leading the charge in stormwater management and ocean conservation. Their efforts are a testament to the power of innovation, collaboration, and dedication in creating a better future for our planet.
For 18 years, we've been leaders in designing, installing, and maintaining systems that help keep stormwater clean. Our goal is to protect the ocean, because it's in big trouble. There's a lot of trash in the ocean, and it's predicted that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish. Plastic is part of the problem, but other things like dirt, heavy metals, and cigarette butts that flow into the ocean from stormwater are also a problem. To help, we're focusing on three things: 1. Changing laws to make a real difference. 2. Educating people about stormwater through school programs. 3. Giving money to charities that help protect the ocean. We're working hard to make sure laws are changed so that maintaining stormwater systems is required by law. Without maintenance, the systems don't work, and pollution ends up in our waterways. We think this change could stop 240 liters of pollution from entering our waterways every day! We've partnered with Keep Australia Beautiful and Eco Educate to teach kids in school about ocean conservation. We're also giving money to charities that help protect the ocean. In 2019, we gave $50,000 to five charities, and we're raising more money for them through our online store. As our business grows, we'll give more money to these charities every year.
