Music - Olympia, Washington, United States
ODISSIA is a four piece melodic hardcore band based out of Olympia, Washington. The band was originally started up in 2016 by long time friends Chris Hackett (guitarist) and Tony Barr (drummer) as a post hardcore project. They had even gone as far as to release a rough demo titled "A Matter of Time" but due to complications the song had never been distributed and the project had been pushed back, to eventually be formed in 2017; after asking close friend and vocalist Joel Fortenberry and current bassist Caelin Graham a guitarist whom had auditioned before to join the project. After meeting up and with some debate the band had decided to step away from it's original post hardcore roots and aim for a more melodic hardcore sound to officially form itself on April, 11th, 2017. The band began to write and soon after with Caelin's help recording and Shawn Delong of Whiteout Sound Studios help mixing and mastering they released their first single "REGRET" in July, 2017. The band began to receive positive recognition from the general public as well as to the likes of Jessie Kirkbride of the FL, band Traitors (whom which the band later played with in Seattle), shout outs from a few local PNW labels, boosting their social media reach and eventually landing the band a record deal with a company out of Flint, Michigan called "Hustle Til I Die Entertainment" ran by owners Rich Wayne and Nate Diezel who helped fund the release of the whole E.P., the band released one more single "ISOLATION" a month before the E.P. was officially released October, 13th 2017. (Recorded by Caelin Graham, Mixed /Mastered by Shawn Delong of Whiteout Sound Studios).Within the E.P.'s first week ODISSIA had caught notable figures attention such as Frankie Palmeri of the band Emmure tagging Chris Fronzak of the band Atilla and owner of Stay Sick Recordings on Twitter "Sign These Guys", which led to Chris Fronzak calling the band directly to chat. Dan Watson (ex-vocalist) of Infant Annihilator and (current vocalist) of Enterprise Earth had even praised the band on their debut E.P. as well as receiving positive feedback from multiple online news outlets and other local bands helping them jump start their fan base, as well as help from various podcasts, online news outlets, youtube channels, radio stations and other outlets. After playing shows throughout late 2017 - early 2018 the band has been on a temporary break. ODISSIA is currently writing for their first full length album, set to release in 2019.
