Team building is a key piece in the retaining and retention of top talent. Communication and empathy between departments can be a major obstacle for many organizations. As a sales leader myself, I have seen many knock down, drag out fights between sales and customer service or marketing. Many of these conflicts led to a tension so strong many employees on both sides ended up quitting. In 2001, I was commissioner of my first office fantasy sports league. The participants came from sales, customer service, compliance, hr, and IT. Many of these people I had only met in passing. Some I did not know at all. By the time my first season ended I had become true friends with everyone in the group. Not only did we connect over football, we also became better co-workers due to the increased communication and understanding. The Office Fantasy Sports League is the ultimate corporate team builder. What sets our league apart is our focus on charity. We work with the organizations we represent to create a format that is fun for the players and has a clear impact on the communities they serve. Many offices will match the leagues weekly winner in the form of a donation to their favorite local charity, for example. As a part of our service we can provide a dedicated league commissioner, full on-boarding with training resources, weekly individual and departmental rankings, list of recommended charities, and trophies/belts.
