The Virginia Department of Transportation Office of Public-Private Partnerships has advance over $8.1 billion in public-private partnership projects in transportation since 1995.The VDOT P3 Office has built on the foundation of Virginia's robust Public-Private Transportation Act (PPTA) legislation enacted in 1995, strong political sponsorship, and public sector deal capacity to leverage significant P3 projects and program enhancements. The VDOT P3 Office has a well-defined process for identifying, screening, developing and procuring P3 projects. The P3 legislation and P3 project delivery process are often used as the model for other US states to follow. The VDOT P3 Office is comprised of a small focused group of professionals with diverse backgrounds in finance, project development, environmental compliance, engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance to deliver complex P3 projects in transportation and other social infrastructure areas.
