OLEV™ (On Line Electric Vehicle) Technology, a zero emission green transportation solution, delivers a breakthrough technology based on wireless electric power transfer for the commercial and industrial electric vehicle industry. OLEV was named one of the 50 Best Inventions of the Year 2010 by the Time Magazine and the "Top 10 Emerging Technologies for 2013" by the World Economic Forum. With OLEV, an EV can be continuously powered while moving or when stopped along a route eliminating the need to be pulled out of service to recharge. All plug-in technology is eliminated. Wireless electrification infrastructure is minimal and inexpensive to install. The OLEV system addresses the following typical problems of Electric Vehicles:1. Cost of batteries - OLEV facilitates up to 80% reduction in battery packs 2. Weight of batteries - OLEV enables smaller battery packs reducing vehicle weight by up to 6,000lbs per bus.3. Range Anxiety - OLEV systems allow vehicles to quickly recharge on-the-go for unlimited range.4. Recharging down-time - OLEV systems allow in-use recharging. The technology has been successfully demonstrated on buses at KAIST campus since 2009. The first commercial deployment of the OLEV wireless charging technology was put into operation during July 2011 at Seoul Grand Park, where three 100-passenger trams provide daily shuttle services to the visitors at a theme-park near Seoul, South Korea. Since then additional commercial deployments went into service at locations such as the World Expo site, Yeosu and Jeju Island in South Korea during 2012. In August of 2103, OLEV began providing service to the City of Gumi in South Korea with two buses that run a 24 km inner city route. Just as we cut the cords from our phones as soon as technologically feasible, electric vehicle charging is destined to be wireless.
