Nonprofit Organization Management - Rockville, Maryland, United States
OMID was set up in 2004 to help marginalized adolescent girls and young women who are victims of sexual, physical or mental abuse; slavery; forced prostitution; forced labor; oppression; and institutional and domestic violence. They often suffer from severe mental health and emotional difficulties, mostly stemming from their experiences of neglect, physical and sexual abuse, and of exposure to discrimination and violence.OMID works in communities with traditional social norms, and discriminations/abuses against women which bring about marginalization and traumatization that touches all aspects of life and hinders adolescent girls and young women from accessing the education they desire, engaging in society, having a voice, and accessing opportunities.
