The Omushana Company is a social enterprise which provides affordable and accessible solar power to marginalized households in rural Uganda. As a simple solution to a complex problem, with each purchase of eco-friendly clothing a household in poverty receives a solar powered lantern. We eliminate paraffin candles and kerosene lanterns currently relied on in subsistence-level households. Our social missions reduce global carbon dioxide emissions from unsustainable lighting methods, alleviate poverty, reduce global inequalities, and provide the opportunity for people to take action for sustainability.
