Founded in March 2011, ONE Haverhill is an independent partnership that brings organisations and resources together to make them more effective and efficient in the town.Members of the board include all three tiers of local government, the business sector, education, police, health, voluntary sector, Havebury Housing, Abbeycroft Leisure, education and the faith communities â€" all with one aim - improving the quality of life for people in Haverhill.Haverhill Community BudgetHaverhill was chosen by the Government as one of just 12 areas in the UK to pilot a new way of giving local communities more say in the way budgets are spent. Community Budgeting provides a real opportunity for people in Haverhill to directly influence how and where money is spent in the town. All organisations will still hold their funding and their responsibilities, but the board will work on bringing organisations round the table to ensure that the money is spent locally to provide the services local people value the most. ONE Haverhill is working on two key areas of public funding, monies spent on improving the physical environment and opportunities for young people. Local people have decided which of the areas under these headings are most important through a series of consultations involving surveys and interviews at public events. The Haverhill Community Budget Plan was launched in June 2013.
