One Silver Lining is a non profit organization that aims to promote positive body image and self esteem among youth while raising awareness about the media's impact on beauty standards. One Silver Lining was created in March of 2013 by youth founder Bianca Pisciola. The inspiration for the organization came from Bianca's personal struggle with her body image and self esteem. According to the Canadian Women's Foundation, over 50% grade 6 girls have reported going on a diet, and 9 out of 10 reported feeling pressure from the media to stay thin. These are pressures that impact boys and girls alike, and the goal of One Silver Lining is to eliminate the stress that the media places on young people.
