Civic & Social Organization - Oakland, California, United States
OneLife Institute is a people of color centered organization serving at the intersection of spirituality and social action. We nurture, inspire, and sustain people committed to healing and justice. Through workshops, retreats, events, resources, counseling and consultation services we provide a place where those on the front lines of social change and community service can be supported and renewed. Since 2004, our work has centered three primary goals: (1) Increasing the well being of individuals and communities living under the stress of poverty, violence, oppression and uncertain times; (2) Enhancing the sustainability and integrity of movements for social transformation and community uplift; (3) Fostering an ever-growing Beloved Community.Examples of our core programs include:* Spirit, Sound & Silence – Retreats offering a day of healing and renewal with guided meditation, visioning, labyrinth walk, time in nature, and music by Destiny Muhammad the ‘Harpist from the Hood.'* Sustaining the Soul of Activism – Workshops and resources supporting the resilience of activists, caregivers, change-makers and others who are at risk of burnout and trauma. Offered both publicly and under contract with organizations or groups. Can be tailored to meet your specific needs and goals.* Healing Black Lives – Days of renewal for people of African descent. Practices for resilience and spiritual well-being, mini-sessions with healing practitioners, community connection and support.* Transformative Visions – Art, jazz and spoken word event addressing social issues and lifting up a vision of peace, justice, and possibility for our communities and our world.* Classes and Workshops – on topics related to our mission.* Consulting and Facilitation – We support client organizations in a wholistic approach, working in both the "inner" and "outer" dimensions to reveal new possibilities for personal and organizational development.
