Retail - Springfield, Missouri, United States
OP Domestic & Exotic Lumber, originally Osage Products and then OP Hardwoods, was started in 1985 In Elden, Missouri. The Reynor family had a sawmill and kiln business where they were selling lumber by the truckload, but the community had a need for smaller-orders of lumber and they wanted to fill that. So they bought an old building and started stocking it with common American lumbers. From there it grew into carrying exotics and plywoods. The Springfield location was opened in 1987 and from there many people had access to great lumber. Soon after in 1990, a branch in Columbia, Missouri was opened up. As business goes and interest changes, the branches in Elden and Columbia would consolidate to the branch in Springfield, where in 1999 it was sold to Mike Jeffreys and then again to Norman and Deb Tutor, a father and daughter who had already accumulated years of woodworking experience. It was here that Norm and Deb would take the company from just selling lumber to building and taking woodworking orders for it. This year, Norm and Deb wanted to step back from woodworking, but right before they were going to close, Tom Kutz, a regular customer, came into the old location with the same dream. He partnered with some friends and business owners so that they all could buy OP Domestic & Exotic Lumber, combine their experience, and develop OP further. They moved it to 2414A W Battlefield St to be more accessible to people. Though through a few owners, the dream of providing exceptional lumber from all over the globe to whoever needs it still lives on. We've now grown to a large team and today you can find us developing the company so we can continue to treat you with the exceptional service that you should expect. We hope to see you soon!
