shyster.inc is a hothouse of creativity within theatre, education and learning disability with a unique methodology that underpins and informs its practice. There are now four strands to the organisation's work: theshyster.theatrecompany is a permanent ensemble company of experienced actors with learning disabilities. Established in 1997, their reputation as one of the country's leading and most dynamic companies of actors with learning disabilities is confirmed.theshyster.shadows The demand and aspirations of young people with learning disabilities who wanted to train in the performing arts combined with the lack of mainstream opportunities for them to do so, prompted the formation of theshyster.shadows who wer established in 2001. shyster.ed We have worked with Special Schools over the past five years. Our work with Castle Wood Primary Special School in Coventry focuses on the role that the 'shyster methodology' can play in supporting children's learning and development and in placing creativity at the heart of the curriculum. The focus for the work with Birmingham secondary special schools, in collaboration with Birmingham Hippodrome, uses the support that the shyster methodology provides to assist young people with learning disabilities in their transition into adult life. shyster.share We want to share what we do and so are developing ways of articulating and disseminating the best practice that emerges from the innovative work on the above areas.
