Nonprofit Organization Management - High Point, North Carolina, United States
Operation K.A.R.E. strives to provide mobility solutions to the men and women who have been injured fighting for our country's freedom, therefore letting them better maneuver terrain and enjoy outdoor activities with their families and friends. In 2016, the Zeta Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at High Point University began ‘Operation KARE' (Knowledge, Awareness, Results, Empower) - a student led initiative aimed at raising money to provide Track Chairs for wounded veterans. We were motivated by the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who serve in uniform. Realizing that they were not much older than we were at the time, we wanted to do something tangible and meaningful for them. Between 2016 and 2018 our group has raised AND donated over $68,000 to the Independence Fund to provide Track Chairs and other wellness programs for veterans around the country. To achieve this, we built a nationwide coalition of 300+ donors — individuals, businesses, and other organizations — from 28 states around the country. While many of the people who began this have since graduated college, we want to continue in our mission to care for our nation's most deserving.
