Opioid Crisis Response Fund (OCRF) fast facts:MISSION: To save as many lives as possible, as quickly as possible, from opiate-related overdoseCURRENT IMPACT: In the 12m ending 9/30/19, OCRF funding prevented 1,295 overdose deaths (3-4 per day) at an average cost of $110.84 per life-saved. In terms of lives saved from overdose, we believe we are achieving the highest rate of effectiveness among funders of opioid response. We also believe that the rate of effectiveness we've demonstrated should be adopted as the hurdle rate for further philanthropic investment in the Opioid Epidemic by other funders.OCRF is currently funding opioid response work across Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Connecticut, Tennessee, and Louisiana.STRUCTURE: OCRF is under the fiscal sponsorship of the Harm Reduction Coalition (www.harmreduction.org). OCRF operates under the 501(c)(3) status of HRC, and is governed by HRC's Board of Directors.FUNDERS: Open Society Foundations, Yagan Family Foundation, Sandgaard Foundation, Kaiser Family Foundation, Addiction Policy Forum, a major anonymous donor, and many individual donors.METHOD: OCRF is a start-up non-profit fund that raises money, and then applies the principle of net present value to prioritize how that money is deployed to reduce overdose fatality. In other words, we set aside all a priori preferences for any particular mode of response, and ask only what intervention has the highest probability of saving the most lives, fastest.TO DONATE: https://www.ocrfund.org/take-action/
