Opium is a hidden Chinatown tree-house, discreetly situated above Gerrard Street. If you can find the Jade Door and follow the red staircase, be prepared to be transported back to 1920's Shanghai. Full of charm, Opium is divided across two different floors, each with secret rooms and discrete nooks where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings while you are served by attentive staff. Opiums tranquil atmosphere is not only the best way to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, but the perfect spot to enjoy authentic and award winning Dim Sum. Each room brings out the true character of Shanghai's varied and elegant past, with hidden intimate touches that will set you at ease and have you spotting something new with every visit. The Apothecary - which finds you either in the Tea Parlour, The Greenhouse or sat at the counter awaiting your potions and measures of spirits from the wall of medicinal bottles – you won't have to learn Cantonese, we promise! Our bar tender has done it for you! Academy - is on the top floor with one half set as an authentic Chinese family lounge area which spin you into another dimension as Martinis and Flaming Dragons are whipped up around the armchairs to your table. The second half of Academy is set as a comfortable carriage full of booths leading to the bartender's table where your drinks are made to order while you kick back, relax and enjoy the view.Peony - is our hidden den within Opium. Peony has its own exclusive cocktail menu, a unique self-contained cosiness and a few different table arrangements including a Dim Sum steamer in the centre. Peony is often considered the most romantic room but also caters to larger groups.
