Council's Vision for our district is: 'Strong Community - Strong Future'.Opotiki District is the perfect place for a community that appreciates outdoor activities and a natural environment. With miles of open sea, 160 kms of coastline, 13 rivers and 11,200 hectares of bush and scrubland the district comprises 25% of the Bay of Plenty region and 50% of the Bay of Plenty coastline.Around 9,000 people live here and each year 30,000+ visitors experience this great environment. First is ‘the Council' made up of one Mayor and 6 Councillors. They make decisions, on behalf of the ratepayers, to meet the needs of the District.
