OPPF Details

OPPF is a non-political, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that has been associated with the United Nations DPI since 1987. The organization was founded in 1986 by Osoronko Nana-Yabani, a linguist, historian, international poet and UN peace messenger of Ghanaian origin. OPPF is committed to protect and uphold the rights of those marginalized. Guided by the belief that every man, woman and child deserves to live a life free from discrimination and violence, OPPF works to respond to women and children that have been, or are, exposed to violence. To carry out this purpose, OPPF is building a Battered Women's Centre in the eastern province of Kenya. The Battered Women's Centre is a holistic approach responding to women and children exposed to violence, where immediate physical, practical and psychological needs will be met, and where empowerment, education, skills training and engagement are equally important components of the rehabilitation process. Women and children will be provided the tools, support and time needed to recover, and to create a better future for themselves, their families and communities.
