OHA's first responsibility is to the public. In addition to providing information and referral services for patients, families and health care professionals, OHA provides technical assistance to more than 50 licensed hospice programs in Oregon communities; education for hospice professionals and volunteers; advocacy for support of hospice with government bodies and agencies, insurance companies, employers, etc.; accreditation of high quality hospice programs; and support for other activities that promote the hospice concept and high quality hospice and comfort care. The Oregon Hospice Association is a public benefit organization helping to ensure Oregonians have access to high quality hospice and palliative care as they near the end of life.
