For many of us chronic pain is a part of life. Most people don't understand it. Many call it "the pain that is just in your head" - but that is not accurate.All pain that we have is in our head, because that is where it is perceived and experienced, the pain message has a certain strength and location - that is why your doctor asks how much it hurts and where.The most important thing to understand is the difference between ACUTE and CHRONIC pain. When the pain is acute that means something somewhere is being damaged or in an immediate danger of being damaged, for example when you bend your arm the wrong way it will start hurting and the more we move it in the wrong direction the stronger the pain becomes. Another possible cause is an actual damage already was caused and it needs to be treated - for example a bleeding wound.This acute pain is then a message from an area of our body to take action or to stop doing something.What then is "chronic" pain? The word "chronos" in Greek means "time" and we call something "chronic" when it persists in time.The pain message is persisting in time, even though it is no longer needed. Its purpose is already gone. For example the danger of damaging a part of body is no longer possible. The treatment is completed and the wound has healed.A known example of such pain is "phantom" pain, experienced by those that lost a limb but still feel the pain in it. This is the remainder of trauma from the emotion associated with the event in which that loss happened...What can be done about chronic pain? Simply - your subconscious mind needs to accept and agree that that pain message is no longer needed. What I do is help you achieve that agreement using a technique called OldPain2Go, based on brain bargaining. It is a simple process which mostly requires one session for arthritis, back or neck pain, orit might need a series of sessions for complex illnesses such as Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
