Organization for Community Development (OCD) is a benevolent, non-political/partisan, not for profit registered NGO recognized provincially and nationally. OCD is working for the holistic development of the marginalized segment of the society without any discrimination of race, gender, religion, ethnic, age, handicap, or sexual orientation. Our initiatives involve and engage grassroots communities. OCD works with the poorest and most excluded people by synchronizing synergies with organizations that represent them, in rural and urban areas. We focus women, children, youth, and men living in poverty, socially excluded and marginalized groups. Other stakeholders include partners, allies (networks, consortiums, INGOs, and NGOs), supporters and donors and based on need district, provincial or federal governments.OCD was born on Monday, November 29, 1999, in continuation of the efforts put forth by student leaders and volunteers who visualized Acceptance, Tolerance, and Peace in the communities of Pakistan. The founder members' formally got the organization registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (registration & control) ordinance, 1961 (XLVI of 1961) on April 24, 2001. Subsequently, with the deteriorating peace and security situation post 9/11 incident, the organization was also registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on December 13, 2004.OCD was among 200 organizations to be named as "CHAMPION ORGANIZATION" from Pakistan for good practices in internal governance, financial management and program delivery by Greenacre Associates in 2014. In January 2015, OCD earned the status "Gender Friendly Organization" by Sexual Harassment Watch.
