The Organization for Social Orientation (OSO) is a non-governmental and non-profit research and action network that was founded in 2008 in the coastal city of Chittagong, Bangladesh, by a group of young professionals, researchers and social entrepreneurs from South Asia. OSO's goal is to accomplish a colossal milestone of tying up people by social orientation through research, action and cooperation in South Asia. In pursuance of its goal, OSO is dedicated to foster friendship and cooperation among the nations and societies in the region through facilitating research and action based programs led by young professionals and local communities. Its constituency is based on membership drawn from researchers, experts, academics, professionals, students and institutions engaged in research, action and development process in socioeconomic fields in South Asia. OSO aims to have National Chapters and Liaison Offices in 14 countries in the region, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Institutional membership is open to all institutions, within or outside the region, engaged in the promotion of research, social action and development works fields in South Asia. OSO's head office is located in Chittagong.
