Hospital & Health Care - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Founded through a collaboration with University of Toronto and University of Alberta occupational therapy (OT) students, OTech Canada is a student group that aims to encourage occupational therapy students to actively engage with rehabilitation technology, through discussions and workshops. Our mission is to prepare future OTs to be knowledgeable about the world of rehabilitation technology and become active contributors in this sector. Additionally, OTech aims to build meaningful connections with inter-professionals who work with rehabilitation technology, both within and outside of healthcare. We've held local and national speaker sessions, workshops, and tours of facilities (I.e. KITE @ Toronto Rehab- UHN). To date, we have OTech Chapters at 3 Canadian universities: the University of Toronto, University of Alberta, and University of Western Ontario. Values: Interprofessional Collaboration, Innovation, Creativity, AdvocacyThe objectives of OTech are: - Prepare future OTs to be at the forefront of using technology to help individuals live fulfilling lives despite their affective, cognitive, or physical limitations- Promote the discussion and knowledge of how technology can impact occupational outcomes, and- Engage students in design thinking to plan for future devices that can positively impact occupations and address occupational challenges
