Ovacome is the national UK ovarian cancer charity focused on providing support to anyone affected by ovarian cancer. This includes those who have either been diagnosed with the disease or think that they might be at risk, as well as their friends and family and healthcare professionals.Ovacome was founded by Sarah Dickinson in 1996. Sarah had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and found that there were no resources and little to no support or information for women with the disease. She sat down with a group of likeminded people and Ovacome was born. We are a strong community of many thousands of people, all working together with the aim of reducing isolation, sharing information, promoting knowledge and supporting anyone affected by ovarian cancer.We provide a wide range of support services, including:- A telephone support line- Email, text, instant chat and Skype support- A 24 hour online forum- A programme of online meetings and webinars with expert speakers, designed to help those living with ovarian cancer to manage their diagnosis and the effects of treatment- Support groups- Regional support and information days- Health and wellbeing events- Expert information materials and resourcesWe also run a highly successful UK Survivors Teaching Students programme, giving presentations and educating student nurses, doctors and specialists on signs, symptoms and experiences of women with ovarian cancer.
