Our aim is to bring enthusiastic students and organisations in the developing world together to make a lasting difference. OxAID was founded as a student organisation in 2010 by a group of Oxford students. In 2011 the founders moved to London to work as strategy consultants and with that OxAID expanded to London universities. In 2012, OxAID incorporated as a Community Interest Company. We bring together teams of motivated students to volunteer on consulting projects for organisations in the developing sector. The organisations we work with include NGOs, local charities, think tanks and non-political government institutions. OxAID can be thought of as a problem-solving platform . OxAID helps the partner organisations from the development sector to structure projects by clearly formulating the problem they want to be addressed. On the other side of the OxAID platform, students are placed in teams and work together to develop innovative solutions for the projects submitted by partner organisations. OxAID allocates members to teams on the basis of their skills and interests. At the same time, we monitor the quality of the output to ensure that completed work is of highest quality. All OxAID work is done online (with easy-to-use tools like Skype), without the need for expensive, time-consuming and eco-unfriendly travel. We operate a non-profit model and do therefore not take payments from students, nor from the NGOs.
