Oxfordshire Community Land Trust (OCLT) is a Community Benefit Society registered in 2006 and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority with charitable status. It is committed to creating permanently-affordable homes in the county of Oxfordshire and has built up considerable capacity, networks and know-how in this approach. OCLT have an option and planning permission for six affordable rental homes for people in housing need on a site in Dean Court, Botley (in Vale of White Horse District Council). Having been on the point of becoming a Registered Provider (RP) with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) in March 2015, and with almost £1m of funding in place, OCLT hit an unforeseen legal problem which put the project on hold. After a year of negotiation, involving the Charity Commission amongst others, OCLT aims to go to site in 2017. OCLT has a strong board and excellent governance arrangements due to the required preparation to register with the HCA. It has also built up strong relationships with various financial organisations, including Charity Bank, Triodos, CAF Venturesome and Resonance.
