Founded by Shipra Nayyar, Chemical Engineer from BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, Özel's philosophy is based on design with social impact. Özel provides vocational training and employment to underprivileged women and craftsmen of India. After gaining industry experience for 8+ years with Shell, Shipra took a break to focus full time on growing the Özel community into a sustainable venture. With features in The Hindu, The Indian Express and with endorsements from celebrities like Taapsee Pannu and Vidya Balan, Özel has grown from a one room workshop to a flourishing business supporting many livelihoods.Özel won the Pink Power Contest for Women Entrepreneurs organized by Inorbit Malls in 2018 which started our retail journey and lead to opening up of the first retail kiosk at Inorbit Mall, Hyderabad. Currently we have a store in Sarath City Capital Mall, Kondapur and listed in various multi designer stores across the country.
