Since 1913, Pennsylvania Holstein Association has focused on two areas: Furnishing service to owners of Holstein cattle. Conducting a program of breed promotion and education, in addition to providing a means for members to market their products. To insure quality of following through in that commitment, PHA serves its members in six areas. 1. Shows: over 5,000 Pennsylvania Registered Holsteins are exhibited each year. PHA sponsors & supports: 2 State Shows 7 Regional Championship Shows 25 Local Recognized Shows Pennsylvania All-American Show 2. Promotion: we have promotion displays at: Pennsylvania Farm Show Ag Progress Days County Fairs Conventions 3. Publications Pennsylvania Holstein Profiles Farmshine Newspaper Holstein World 4. Dairy Promotions Dairy Princess Program Mall Exhibits Parades and Festivals School Programs Cheese Sale 5. Youth: PHA offers many activities and contests for Holstein youth through 21 years of age. Some of these are: Distinguished Junior Member Contest Dairy Bowl Contest Youth Scholarship Program Junior Progressive Breeder Award State Judging School Junior All-Pennsylvania Contest Milk, Fat and Protein Contest Awards at District and State Shows Public Speaking Contest 6. Education: There are 50 clubs that sponsor activities and provide fellowship for the membership at the local level. Local Club Meetings Tours-Local, State and National Barn and Twilight Meetings Promote Classification Promote Production Testing (DHI and DHIR) Merchandising and Advertising State Convention Hall of Fame Award Distinguished Young Breeders Award Pennsylvania Holstein Association shall promote the Holstein dairy industry through ethical and lawful activities to enhance the profitability of Holstein dairy producers in Pennsylvania and beyond.
