Founded in 1995, Packawallop Productions is a collaborative resource for film and theater artists. Under the leadership of artistic directors Scott Ebersold and Alejandro Morales, Packawallop creates and nourishes work that responds to issues of identity and performance. Packawallop has produced many plays, films and festivals, including a stage adaptation of the cult- classic film, The Tingler at Soho Rep; occupation: paris at HERE's American Living Room; the documentary, Wiggle (a.k.a. the Jell-O People), celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Jell-O; the staged reading series Summer Punch; and the independent short-film festival, Phat Shorts. Their productions of the silent concerto and expat/inferno earned them rave reviews and a combined three Fringe awards, including Best Overall Production for expat/inferno. Their production of Adam Szymkowicz's Nerve at the Theater at the 14th Street Y played sold out audiences and universal acclaim. In 2006, the company created the PackaSalons, an ongoing series designed as a resource for the Packawallop artistic community to explore their current artistic fascinations in whatever fashion they choose. Salon artists have included Kevin Newbury, Greg Emetaz and Mahayana Landowne.
