"Panachaiki FC 1891" was founded on June 14th 1891 as a sports club, in Patras, Western Greece. The Football Club competed for the very first time on January 17th, 1899 in a friendly game against a team of English marines in Patras, where Panachaiki FC won 4-2.First promotion to Greek top flight was in 1970. Panachaiki FC was the first club coming from regional Greece to compete in UEFA CUP, during the season 1973/74.The club is currently competing in "Football League", the second tier of Greek Professional leagues after being crown "Champions" in C National Division in 2016/17. During the summer of 2016, 15 local businessmen took the club over, with a project named "Panachaiki Simmaxia". European Champion with Greek National team, Kostas Katsouranis, a club legend, was appointed as a Technical director with a long-term plan, to bring back the glory days of Panachaiki FC.
