PantMobilen.no was an online mobile phone reuse service for private and business customers. The company dealt with the collection of used cell phones and their environment friendly reuse and recycling. PantMobilen.no was run by PantMobilen AS in cooperation with Estonia-based UPR GLOBAL OÜ, up untill the UPR was acquired by the UK-based Redeem Plc, one of Europe's largest players in handset recycling at the time. Our philosophy was to provide new homes for the phones we buy from our customers. We believed and still believe reuse is a key aspect of recycling, and we did our best to promote it by increasing the awareness of the reuse of mobile phones. 95% of our mobiles were reused and a total of 14,000 were collected. In most cases the handsets were refurbished and sold in developing countries where they could play a major part in helping to develop fledgling communication networks. When a phone was beyond repair, PantMobilen.no sent it off to a recycling plant where it was broken down and all materials were reused to their fullest capacity, in accordance with all the WEEE and Environment Agency directives.
