Restaurants - San Antonio, Texas, United States
Papouli's Greek Grill was borne of a long legacy of restaurateurs in San Antonio, Texas. Papouli is Greek for Grandfather. Tom Anthony, the founder's own Papouli, landed on Ellis Island in 1911, and like many Greek-borne immigrants he opened a restaurant. His ‘Manhattan Café' rose rapidly to legendary status, built upon the tradition of offering excellent food, with genuine hospitality, in a casually inviting atmosphere. And it is in these same traditions that that Papouli's Greek Grill was conceived and built. The name Papouli's was chosen not only out of respect and honor for the man who inspired a third generation of Anthony family restaurateurs, but more so for the values in which Papouli Tom, as well as his son Dan, believed and instilled in the generations that followed.
