We focus on people and coffee is our tool.Coffee came into our lives in different ways, but it developed one thing in common for all of us: Passion that inspires us to transform a bean of humble appearance with an unnoticed aroma, into a desirable, aromatic and complex bean.There are literally hundreds of opportunities for it to be the extraordinary coffee that we long for.And so, like all great piece of art, the process has to be slow, carefully carried out by paying attention to every detail.Creating the perfect cup of coffee involves not only a series of very delicate processes, but also artisans willing to dedicate infinite hours of work to achieve their mission.Our purpose is to create opportunities based on community tourism, local sustainable economy and strong connections to bring development to coffee family producers in Guatemala, promote specialty coffee in Central America and provide our clients with an authentic experience that will fill them with love and appreciation in every cup of coffee.Why Paralelo 14?The place where coffee was discovered, was in the country of Ethiopia in eastern Africa, sometimes also referred to as the horn of Africa. At that time, it was better known as Abyssinia.When it comes to coffee, all factors affect and influence the growth and taste of it. In this case the climatic conditions are very important. The fact that Ethiopia is at a latitude of 6 to 14 degrees parallel benefits them greatly allowing tropical, subtropical and tempered climates.Interestingly, the place where our company was founded and our house coffee originates, is Antigua. Antigua Guatemala - as Ethiopia - is also at a latitude of 14 degrees north - hence Paralelo 14.That means that we are located in the same conditions where coffee originated, but on the other side of the world, which we think is a very incredible fact and the reason why we chose that name to represent us.
