We are a not-for-profit organization made up of parent leaders, teachers and principals who have identified the need for resources and skill building opportunities for leaders who make up school councils and all parents throughout the province of Ontario.We support the theory that "It takes a village to raise a child" and we are committed to being part of that village. The state of parent engagement has changed more in the last 5 - 10 years than any time in modern history. With many parents working more than one job, single parent families, higher rate of new Canadians, challenging curriculums and so many of our children with mental health issues, there has never been a time when parent engagement has been so important. It is apparent that engagement is no longer the responsibility of the parent alone, it must be a priority for every school board, principal, teacher, parent and organizations, such as Parents Engaged in Education, to support and develop ways to encourage parent engagement.Our corporate mission is to:1. To promote and engage parents in their children's education process to increase academic achievement.2. To provide resources and skill building opportunities for parents, guardians and school council members in support of children's education in Ontario.3. To implement a succession plan to have continuity in the school community to engage parents and the community.4. To provide resources to parents to assist them in engaging and supporting their child's learning resulting in increased student achievement.
