She has advised public bodies on all aspects of the law that govern their statutory functions and in particular the law relating to mental health, food hygiene, pre-schools and nursing homes. As an experienced litigator, she represents private clients in a variety of matters in all courts, including the Coroner's Court, where she has represented bereaved families. Bernadette was recently re-appointed as a legal representative by the Mental Health Commission to advocate and advise people who are involuntarily detained in approved centres under the Mental Health Acts 2001-2008. Bernadette is a member of the Irish Mental Health Lawyers Association, Irish Health and Safety Lawyers Association and the Dublin Solicitors and Bar Association.
