Partnership for Palliative Care Details
Founded in 2008 by a group of national leaders in medicine and philanthropy, the Partnership for Palliative Care is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The Partnership promotes and focuses on palliative care service expansion, research, advocacy and public education. The overarching mission of the Partnership's work is to raise public awareness of palliative care so more people living with chronic disease and serious illness can benefit from its effects. Without public demand for palliative care, access to palliative care specialists and services remains marginalized, and further expansion is impeded at a time when need is escalating and there are growing numbers of people with chronic illness.The Partnership has helped raise over $20 million dollars to support the groundbreaking work of two leading organizations in the field:The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) headed by Dr. Diane Meier. CAPC provides health care professionals with the tools, training and technical assistance necessary to start and sustain successful palliative care programs in hospitals and other health care settings.The National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC) headed by Dr. Sean Morrison. NPCRC develops and funds research directed at improving care for seriously ill patients and their families.
