Pascal Dumont is a documentary filmmaker and photographer currently based in Canada. His interests include the environment, social movements and minority groups. He previously worked as a videographer, photographer and editor at the Moscow bureau of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and as multimedia editor of The Moscow Times.Dumont directed Transmoskva, a documentary film that captures the life of Vika, a Siberian woman who transitioned at age 47. His next feature-length film, on the lives of HIV-positive drug addicts in Moscow, will be released in 2022.His passion for visual storytelling brought him to photograph Vladimir Putin and Mikhail Gorbachev, film the Russian Arctic, witness the landing of astronauts in the steppes of Kazakhstan and cover major events such as the Crimean crisis, Russia's military campaign in Syria, the 2019 Ukrainian election and the 2018 soccer World Cup.Pascal's work has been published and broadcasted worldwide, including in The Guardian, Le Monde, RFI, Radio-Canada, The Associated Press, The National Film Board of Canada, The Thomson Reuters Foundation and ABC News.
