The idea for Passpawt came about after one of our co-founders spent a frustrating weekend trying to research, find and book a seaside holiday for all the family, including the family Labrador, Crunchie. The problem was that no single site had a nationwide selection of pet-friendly holiday cottages. There were plenty of sites that allowed you to search for dog friendly holiday rentals, but there was precious little additional information to help make the right decision. Even worse, there were properties that appeared in the results as being pet friendly, but when contacted, turned out to not accept pets. This was an extremely frustrating experience.After a little bit of research, it became clear that there was definitely a need for a dedicated holiday site that catered just for guests who would not consider a family holiday to be complete without their pets coming along too. After all, 24% of UK households have a dog – that's 8.5m households – and 37% of those households take their pets on holiday.
