The mission of I Was There (IWT) is tohelp veterans coping with posttraumatic stress, reduce socialisolation, and strengthen family, community, and professionalbonds. We accomplish this mission through intensive filmmakingworkshops that enable participants to collaborate with peers,and process relevant service experiences. We also incorporatescreening events that validate veterans' experiences, advancecommunity dialogue, and educate the public about the mentalhealth challenges facing veterans and military families.
