In January 2001, Jamie Hoffpauir heard well-meaning but discouraging stories from cancer survivors, especially about physical activity and getting back into a fitness routine. But she didn't allow herself to be defeated by breast cancer. In fact, she used it as an inspiration for a new fitness clothing line called Pauir (pronounced: Power) Athletic Apparel. Hoffpauir, a fitness professional from Bellevue, Kentucky, has created a line of active lifestyle apparel for women at any stage of their breast cancer journey based on her experiences in battling the disease. The Pauir athletic top is different from regular tops in that it provides support for breast cancer patients who have had breast surgery. Features include soft fabric for everyday comfort with pockets for supporting a prosthesis, along with a front zipper opening and flat seams. With sizes small to extra large, all tops are made in the United States. On average, there are 300,000 female breast cancer diagnoses per year. National studies have shown that women with breast cancer who exercise have an improved outcome compared to those who do not exercise. These statistics alone prove that breast cancer patients need support, and support to exercise in clothing that fit their every need. Pauir Athletic Apparel aims to provide the perfect active lifestyle clothing that will help survivors like Jamie make it to the finish line. "Regardless of age, fitness level, economic status and even a devastating diagnosis, you have the ability to achieve anything you set your mind to," said Hoffpauir. "Run a marathon. Cycle a century. Develop muscular endurance for everyday tasks and a sculpted body. All are within your reach."Hoffpauir has centered the company on the core belief of building personal strength with the strength to rebuild. Her goal is to create a community through this apparel line to support others like herself.
