PDI is a non profit ambulatory facility, specializing in treating the number one epidemic among Northern California Children: early childhood caries.Mission: To deliver safe, high quality, and specialized dental treatment to underserved youth and promote oral health through education to communities of Northern California.Our clinical team of dentists, medical anesthesiologists, pediatric nurses, registered dental assistants work to remove extensive tooth decay and perform extractions, fillings, crowns and baby root canals (pulpotomies). We also have a health educator at PDI who works with families while the child is in the OR, to teach healthy nutrition and dental health routines. In addition, PDI's Promotores de Salud (community health workers) provide prevention education outreach in the community, educating children, aftercare facilities, families and more. for healthy habits.PDI's two operating rooms are open Tuesday through Friday, treating about 10 children a day. Patients come to PDI Surgery Center after being referred to us by a health clinic, hospital or primary care provider. Because all surgeries require general anesthesia, the child must be healthy enough for major surgery. We dedicate two Mondays per month to treat Special needs patients up to age 25.We are located in Windsor, California, in Sonoma County. However we treat children from all over Northern California - more than 27 counties. We are the only non-profit dental surgery center in Northern California dedicated in treating children who suffer from severe dental decay.A typical patients is 3.5 years old and has around 14 cavities. We want to end the epidemic of severe tooth decay. PDI Surgery Center is funded my public insurances, community and private grants, and private funding.
