Peace and Loaf is an AA Rosette awarded fine dining restaurant in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne suburb of Jesmond. Headed up by head chef and part owner Dave Coulson, it specialises in its "innovative" approach to cuisine. History Finishing runner-up in the 2010 edition of Masterchef: The Professionals, Dave Coulson realised a childhood dream of opening his own restaurant in his hometown three years later. Forming a business partnership with the team behind Sachins, also in Newcastle as well as Geeta Ral, a former business manager at Santander, they invested £250,000 into refurbishments before opening in October 2013. Recognition The Good Food Guide awarded Peace and Loaf Local Restaurant of the Year 2017 award for the North East. January 2016 saw Peace and Loaf awarded two AA Rosettes, with a recommendation for a third. Peace and Loaf has also achieved a number of regional and national awards including a 2015 6* food rating from the Secret Diner and a Harden's food award mention listing. In 2014, the restaurant gained a mention in the Michelin Guide The Observer's Jay Rayner described the restaurant as "serious about serving good food." The Journal's secret diner awarded Peace and Loaf five stars. Trip Advisor has awarded Peace and Loaf its certificate of excellence
