Non-Profit - Richmond, ENG, UK
In 1999, filmmaker Jeremy Gilley founded Peace One Day, a non-profit organisation, and in 2001 Peace One Day's efforts were rewarded when the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September – Peace Day.Peace One Day's objective is to institutionalise Peace Day 21 September, making it a day that is self-sustaining, an annual day of global unity, a day of intercultural cooperation on a scale that humanity has never known.Inspired by a 70% recorded reduction in violent incidents on Peace Day in Afghanistan (source: United Nations Department of Safety and Security), Jeremy launched the Global Truce campaign: a global effort to mobilise the largest gathering of individuals in the name of peace and create the largest reduction of violence ever recorded on one day – Peace Day 21 September. His vision for this campaign is to build a series of coalitions, enabling organisations around the world to share ideas and become inspired by one another's Peace Day activities. The Peace One Day 2012 report, compiled with the support of McKinsey & Co, found that all Peace Day 2012 activities combined reached approximately 280 million people globally – 4% of the world's population. Through our own initiatives and collaborations with various parties, Peace Day 2013 will set out to help organisations and individuals take specific actions to reduce violence around the theme: Who Will You Make Peace With? For Jeremy Gilley speaking and commercial engagements please contact Shreeya Rash at Shreeya@krugercowne.comFor more information on POD Film Productions - the creative video production arm of Peace One Day - please visit www.podfilmproductions.com or call us on 0208 334 9900.
