Peace Training and Research Organisation (PTRO) is an Afghan NGO based in Kabul. We work on peace, conflict and justice issues, and provide training in peacebuilding and good governance. We conduct research for national and international governmental organisations, NGOs and national bodies, to inform policy and provide a deeper understanding of the relevant issues.For many years PTRO staff have focused their attention on local conflict, both through extensive community-based capacity-building and research in areas afflicted by violence. This unique insight, allied with rigorous analysis, has allowed PTRO to gain the respect of national and international decision-making bodies and to speak openly and candidly on the challenging debates concerning the future of the country.Over the past decade PTRO staff have pioneered ways of working across different justice systems and connecting communities to formal institutions as well as supporting, training and mentoring those involved in resolving community disputes. We have also provided expertise in conflict sensitive programme to humanitarian and development NGOs, and other foreign workers.
