You can help others best when you're learning to help yourself.Pecan Grove Guidance was born out of the life skills I learned to thrive amidst neurodivergency and discovering others needed those same skills, but we've been taught to not ask for help. Brushing teeth. Remembering to pay bills. Trying to have an uncluttered workspace, but having difficult with object permanence. Setting boundaries with your loved ones and those who pay your salary - be it employers or clients. I assumed everyone picked up these skills growing up and had them down once they reached the point of healthy, stable adulthood. I was weird for not having these basic functions seared into my muscle memory. So I learned them through what felt like a Sisyphean decade and a half. I took the skills I learned to swim through academia, behavioral health, and eventually project coordination and applied them to my daily life. As I did this and talked openly about it, I discovered plenty of people who had thought the same thing I had - that everyone else had learned these skills easily and felt embarrassed they needed help. The most common terms used for the productivity work I do are "coaching" and "consulting." I use the word guidance. I will be there with you in the maze, helping you to orientate to your own path.
