When someone asks me how long it takes to do a painting, I often reply "50 years"! Art has been a lifelong love for me in one form or another. From childhood doodling through many years of hobbyist pursuit to finally deciding that art is my true vocation. After many years of fitting creativity in between the many cracks in my corporate responsibilities and a hectic life, I took charge, reorganized my priorities and set out to make art the center of my experience. Kind of a flip-flop of devotion, you might say! There is nothing as exciting as a fresh piece of paper, a fully loaded palette and an array of my favorite brushes! Faces are my first love and so many my paintings are portraits, humans and critters both. Informal settings celebrating the small joys of everyday life. Lots of true bold color, reflected light, and strong contrasts. I like my paintings to be entertaining, to bring a smile to the viewer's face.Having more time to spend in the creative process has allowed me to branch out and discover the possibilities of new mediums, watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pencil are now all in my bag of tricks. I paint on canvas, paper, metal and wood. I've been fortunate to have been asked to illustrate for Children's books, something that I'd dreamt of doing for eons. My art has appeared in prints, greeting cards, jewelry, book covers, and furniture. I am having the time of my life!
