The creation of People Against Illicit Drugs (PAID) was birthed out of a father's love for his son, who became addicted to K2/Spice through convenient access to purchase the legalized substance at gas stations and convenience stores in Shelby Township, Michigan. Miskokomon organized and implemented a successful grass-roots protest and boycott campaign against the CITGO gas station and its smoke shop in Shelby Township via social media awareness using Facebook. With the help of Fox News and other news media, word spread quickly to draw attention to the ever-increasing problem, related to several crimes across the U.S. As a result of Miskokomon's courage to take action and lead the cause, a state ban on K2/Spice was quickly approved in record time to be signed into law by Michigan Governor, Rick Snyder on June 19, 2012. MISSION: To eradicate substance abuse through stakeholder involvement by targeting the sources, which facilitate its existence and to provide rehabilitation services to those harmed by addictions. PURPOSE: To increase public awareness about the harmful effects of synthetic-designer drugs and to help those who are suffering from substance abuse.
