"Promoting a stronger voice for Southern-based experts, to favour new and more relevant perspectives on major development challenges worldwide"PEP is a network of institutions, researchers and experts in economic policy analysis, working to build and promote the capacity of local researchers in developing countries. Since its creation in 2002, PEP has evolved into a truly global partnership, with partner institutions based in Asia, Africa, Latin and North America now managing its activities worldwide. Based on a "learning by doing" approach, PEP's unique and manifold support program is designed to systematically remove obstacles to the conduct of state-of-the-art policy research in developing countries. To date, over 500 researchers - based in 49 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America - have benefited from PEP support in conducting research that produces reliable and scientifically-sound evidence to inform relevant national policy debates from a local perspective. As a result, these researchers' expertise in the analysis of development or poverty issues has been increasingly acknowledged, both at the national and international levels.
