Performing Statistics is a cultural organizing project that uses art to model, imagine, and advocate for alternatives to youth incarceration. We are community of creative changemakers and credible messengers that connect young people impacted by the juvenile justice system with artists, lawyers, and advocates to imagine a world without youth prisons.Young people in our program create art to share their experiences navigating the school-to-prison pipeline and their vision for a world without prisons. We then connect their work to policy and law-makers in the education, law enforcement, and juvenile justice systems in order to transform a culture and climate that criminalizes and incarcerates young people rather than invests in community-based alternatives.
